Let’s talk about BLOOD SUGAR!
This is SUCH an important topic, yet in the mainstream medical space it’s rarely discussed unless the patient has severe blood sugar dysregulation. But there is a lot of grey area here, and many of the clients I work with are (unknowingly) struggling with symptoms of blood sugar imbalances.
Blood sugar (or glucose) is regulated by a hormone called insulin, which is produced by the pancreas. If you consume too many sugar/carbs too quickly, your body will release too much insulin and cause spikes in blood sugar.
So does this mean I should cut out carbs and sugar?
Your body NEEDS glucose in order to provide energy and maintain proper function, especially the brain and the liver! Instead of cutting sugar and carbs completely, it’s essentially to implement proper blood sugar support throughout the day.
Instead of cutting out sugar and hoping for the best, it's also important to address the root cause of why blood sugar is imbalanced in the first place.
Easy Steps To Balance Blood Sugar Levels
One of the best ways to balance blood sugar is to make sure you're combining protein, fat and carbs every time you eat. When you eat "naked carbs" (like a slice of toast with jelly) with no protein or fat to accompany it, it will cause a spike in your insulin and set you off on a blood sugar rollercoaster for the rest of the day.
Another important component to balancing your blood sugar is taking steps to reduce your overall toxic burden. Toxins like parasites, pesticides, chemicals in cleaning and body care products, mold and more can cause imbalances in your body's blood sugar response.
Where Can I Learn More About Balancing Blood Sugar?
Interested in learning more about balancing your blood sugar holistically? I have an entire module dedicated to Functional Nutrition and blood sugar balance in my self-paced online course, The Root Cause Academy. We also dive DEEP into topics like parasites, mold, and other toxins that often cause stress to the body's blood sugar response.
